Prototype Poster - Personal Project - Drawing/Digital - 15"x11" - 2007

Inspired by his love of dogs and old railway travel posters (particularly those of Tom Purvis), Ed designed a series of posters in the same flat graphic style using a limited palette, basing the images around dogs in movement and agility course apparatus.

Where's Harry?; Platform 9 ¾ Book Pitch - New Holland Publishers - Drawing/Digital - 13"x19" - 2009

After completing the Moonwalk/Thriller flipbook for New Holland Publishers, Ed was asked to develop an idea for the Harry Potter franchise that the publisher wanted to pitch as a book concept to J.K. Rowling.

Based on a similar idea to a certain other 'Where is?' character, Ed was given free reign to choose and design the setting and characters to incorporate. The only mandates were to try and create an original take on Harry Potter different from that seen in the films, it had to incorporate Harry, Ron and Hermione, and had to appeal to younger readers.

As a fan of the books, Ed enjoyed using every opportunity to portray as many of J.K. Rowling's vibrant characters within a setting familiar to fans the world over; Platform 9 ¾ as the Hogwart's Express is about to leave King's Cross station at 11am.

To the best of Ed's knowledge, the completed image and character line up never reached Ms. Rowling's desk, and the project disapparated into thin air and sadly never came to be.

Character Line Up for Where's Harry? Pitch - New Holland Publishers - Drawing/Digital - 2009

The original brief only requested designs for Harry, Ron and Hermione, but Ed enjoyed the task so much he also designed a lot of the supporting cast from the Harry Potter universe to populate Platform 9 ¾, and give more life to the image and opportunities for people to spot their favourites among the crowd of students.
