Finally!
Coyote vs. ACME releases today in the UK and next week in the US. It feels like a miracle that this film was saved and is coming out.
Back in 2022, what started as a three week contract turned into over a year's work and one of the best jobs I've ever been involved with.
I started as an Animation Story Artist doing SketchVis on a couple of sequences. During this time, I was asked to do a proof of concept 2D animation test as production were contemplating using 2D for some background characters. This test was approved and after my SketchVis work was completed, I moved onto animation and was one of three 2D animators working in London.
I set up the 2D pipeline and created guides and tutorials for the assistant team. Along with my animation responsibilities, I ended up overseeing the assist team, doing lighting design and even a bit of character and prop design. Prior to the film’s release, I worked on four posters for the movie, one of which is above.
Whilst we were a small cog in a big machine, the 2D shots went down so well that the original quota was more than quadrupled. It was such fun working in-house with an amazing team, bouncing ideas off each other and being inspired by their work. I was fortunate to animate shots with many legendary characters including Tweety Pie, Foghorn Leghorn, Witch Hazel, the Instant Martians and Dr. Lorre.
It was a real privilege to work on this film and I am so happy everyone's hard work will be seen on the big screen.
